Dr. Rupin Shah is a Urologist who has dedicated himself to Andrology – the super-speciality that deals with male infertility and impotence. After completing his M.S. in General Surgery and M.Ch. in Urology from Bombay University.
He went to Belgium for training in Andrological microsurgery in 1986. He is the first urologist in India to have this training and is a leading expert in the area of microsurgery for the treatment of men with azoospermia and microsurgical vasectomy reversal. He has conducted numerous training workshops in India and abroad demonstrating microsurgical treatment for male infertility.
His other area of interest is the treatment of organic erectile dysfunction, a field in which he has made numerous contributions. He has developed India's first penile prosthesis, which is now the most commonly used penile implant in India.
In 1994, at the 6th World Meeting of Impotence held in Singapore, he was awarded the President’s Video Prize for developing a new technique of microsurgical penile revascularization.
Dr. Shah has presented and published numerous papers and review articles. He has co-edited two books and has contributed chapters to several others. He was on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Urology and is a super-speciality consultant in Andrology to several organizations.
